Whenever I hear a weather report, I like to look outside to see what the clouds are doing. I used to spend a lot of time driving, and seeing dark puffy clouds called cumulonimbus told me that it was very likely to rain soon. The clouds just needed to get heavy enough to let go with their precipitation.
My sister and I remember well the vinyl record that our mom had gotten for us about the water cycle, and we can sing it without the record. “Evaporation and condensation, the water cycle, the water cycle, followed by precipitation, the water cycle, the water cycle. The never ending cycle is taking place all the time and everywhere.”
It does take place everywhere. Bodies of water like lakes and ponds lose some water to evaporation, and the clouds form as water changes temperature and condenses again. When it rains or snows precipitation is taking place. On the Clouds page I have listed just a few of the types of clouds, which you can see here: Clouds.
